Akron to Play Class A X-Ball this Season

By: Josh Lehman

As college paintball continues to grow across the United States, universities from all across the country are joining in.  In the past The University of Akron and paintball were two words that would not normally be seen in the same sentence, but determination and hard work has changed that.  With their first full season ahead, The Paintball Club at The University of Akron is looking to make some major impressions on the college paintball community.

The club was founded in the spring of 2011, and since then they have competed in 8 competitive events, gathered over 200 members, and built a fundraising base to back the program.  The newly formed University of Akron club will be attending several Class AA NCPA events this year, but all of their work is being directed towards a “coming out party”, attending their first Class A X-Ball event at the NCPA National Championships this spring.

With a large active membership base and a core of dedicated athletes, The Paintball Club at The University of Akron is swinging for the fences.  “We know we are a new organization with a lot to prove, but we have a lot of hard working people behind the scenes and we want to see just how far we can go.  We don’t expect to win, but we do expect to shock some people this spring and earn our place in the growing college paintball community.”  -President of The University of Akron Paintball, Josh Lehman.

We’ve been expecting a “coming out party” from most of the Akron guys for quite some time… just not one of this sort. ;)
